In the course of his experience as a class and one-to-one teacher, Michael has developed a simple method of touch and adjustment which students find both helpful and non-intrusive. This method has been formalised under the name of Arm's Length Touch, which signifies that the teacher always minimises his intrusion into the student's perception of personal space.
Currently, Michael is presenting this method to fellow teachers at BWY In-Service Training (IST) Days, the next of which is to be held in Maidstone, Kent on 24th June 2006. Contact Liz Watts liz@watts999.fsnet.co.uk. Alternatively, contact Michael for a paper copy of his ALT proposal.
